Celebrating the Launch of Our New Computer Lab in Haiti

Bridging the gap to a brighter tomorrow.

Picture a child with abundant curiosity and wonder. A twinkle in their eyes. Now picture that child confined to the limitations of the place where they were born. A place isolated and disconnected from the rest of the world. No pathway to knowledge. Excluded from opportunities. Even their ability to dream is limited.  It’s a heart-wrenching reality for the children of Haiti.

In Haiti, the lack of access to technology hinders educational opportunities and stifles community development. Like other developing countries, Haiti faces what is known as a Digital Divide.

Without access to modern information and technology, they are disconnected from the tools and resources that they need to access educational opportunities and to connect with the broader global community.  This lack of access means that they have very little exposure to what might be available to them and no way to even conceive of the possibilities for their future.

Bridging the Digital Divide by providing access to technology

We at Help Heal Humanity (HHH) are committed to successfully supporting the people of Haiti’s potential to help themselves.

When the Mount Hamilton Youth Soccer Club and Progressive Sports Medicine generously donated soccer balls and uniforms to HHH in 2021 for a soccer league in Nicaragua, it sparked a meaningful connection with one of the soccer club members. Coincidentally, he happened to work for DHL and promptly introduced HHH to the DHL division that works with schools to provide technology.

Fast forward just two years, and thanks to DHL's extraordinary donation of four pallets of computer equipment, we at HHH realized our vision—a fully-equipped computer lab with 2 rooms having 25 computers and monitors in each room, at the school of 1200 students, College de la Grace, in Pignon, Haiti. Taking a hands-on approach, HHH CEO and Founder, Serena Bufalino, travelled to Haiti in September 2023 to personally oversee the lab's setup.

The school is secure and protected by surrounding high walls, four security guards at the front gate 24 hours a day, and video cameras. Although there is electricity, there’s a chance that the  Haitian government could cut it off anytime, so this school is also equipped with back-up generators.

On September 15, 2023, HHH proudly and officially opened the doors to this digital hub, marking a significant step in bridging the digital divide for the eager young minds of Pignon.

Inspiring young minds and fuelling their curiosity for learning

Imagine having only one or two coloured pencils to create art – it limits you to a monochromatic drawing.  Similarly, a lack of knowledge can limit someone’s dreams. Access to a diverse range of information shatters these limits by introducing new possibilities. When Haitian children get the chance to explore a world beyond their borders, it’s like giving them more colours and a bigger canvas for their dreams. Having access to broader knowledge and information outside of Haiti allows for exploration and development, enabling Haitian children to dream beyond their current boundaries, and unlocking opportunities.

Haiti is a country with youth who are willing to shape their own future by improving their circumstances. HHH is there to provide them with the tools to take charge of their own future.  HHH imports opportunities for learning and education providing access to knowledge and connectivity and puts growth in the hands of the children.

Our mission with this computer lab is to introduce the children to a broader world other than the confines of their country. By engaging their curiosity, we empower them to explore information in a safe environment.

The benefits of providing access to technology in a developing country

We at HHH envision a future when every child has the keys to unlock their full potential. We serve underprivileged and vulnerable communicates with access to education, food, resources, and love.

Here’s what providing access to technology can do for a developing country:

  • Learn keyboarding skills

  • Increasing digital literacy with basic digital skills

  • Exposure to a broader world

  • Higher quality of life

  • Apply for services or programs previously out of reach

  • Learn different languages

  • Breaks down isolation and fosters a sense of interconnectedness

  • Access to communication technology

  • Providing access to knowledge and information

  • Ability to learn skills online

  • Learning how to apply for jobs

  • Ability to earn certificates and diplomas from schools outside their country

  • A chance to participate in technology competitions

…and more!

Promoting equal access to learning and education… one computer and one mind at a time.

Join us on this journey!

In the heart of Haiti, where possibilities meet perseverance, we embarked on a transformative journey. With the establishment of our first computer lab, we are crafting digital bridges that span oceans and link Haiti to a world of knowledge and opportunity. And these bridges are more than just a collection of computers and monitors; they are the gateways to global connectivity. Everyone deserves access to tools that most of us in the Western world take for granted.

We invite you to be part of this journey as we inspire young hearts and minds, one child at a time. When you support open access to technology, you’re not just donating; you're weaving yourself into the very fabric of the future.

What To Expect When You Donate to HHH’s Computer Lab:

The computer lab in Pignon is HHH’s first lab. Haiti needs more labs like this. Our goal is to expand this lab and to open more in the future.  This is where we need your help!

When you contribute to this cause you’re not just donating; your contribution is an investment in a child’s future. It is a catalyst for positive change that echoes the promise of positive change, connection, and enrichment. Your donation will help to provide the tools to fuel their dreams and to help them create a brighter future for themselves and their families. Every donation, no matter how big or small, becomes a stepping stone in this journey.

Poverty doesn’t have to be a barrier to knowledge and skills. Technology enables curiosity and exploration and is a key to a lifetime of success.  Let’s expand this technology learning space together!

Your contribution will go directly to:

  • Purchasing computers, monitors, and keyboards

  • Maintenance of computer equipment

  • Internet service
