Help Haiti Heal

Haiti Crisis Response Campaign

An emergency campaign to keep communities we support safe from gang violence

About Help Haiti Heal

Gun violence is a sad reality in Haiti. But, recently, things have escalated to a critical point with the rise of civil deaths, including parents of the children we currently support through our education and nourishment programs.

On February 29th, 2024, while Prime Minister Ariel Henry was on an official trip to Kenya to discuss a multinational security mission with the support of the United Nations, a coalition of gangs coordinated multiple attacks on the capital, Port-au-Prince, where partnering schools we support are located. The main attacks that happened on that day were directed at the international airport, the capital’s police stations, and the two biggest prisons of the country, releasing 4.000 inmates.

With the airport closed since the attacks, the prime minister could not return to the country and was forced to resign by writing a letter in March 2023. Now, many communities are in government-ordered lockdowns and curfews. Other attacks have continued to occur in many cities throughout the country, including Canaan, where our HHH school is located.

Our Goal

To ensure we can continue to support the 100 families who rely on our programs to survive, we need the collaboration of everyone who supports our mission.

This campaign has no expiration date, as we cannot predict when the political scenario in Haiti will stabilize and whether gang attacks will decrease in the coming months.

Our goal with the campaign will be to raise US$11,500 per month, which will go towards:

  • To buy rice, peas, and oil to feed 100 families during the lockdown at Canaan and Port-au-Prince

  • Provide additional armed security to escort our students to and from our school

  • Pay for funerals for their loved ones who died from the current gang attacks

Together, we can make a difference!

We need your help to continue supporting these communities and children in Haiti over the next few months. Any amount is appreciated during these difficult times:
